Evaluation Criteria
Comprehensive guide to configuring evaluation criteria, including built-in scoring dimensions and custom assessment fields.
Overview
Step 2 of the campaign wizard allows you to define which evaluation criteria reviewers will use to assess employees. This determines what data is collected and how employees can be positioned on calibration matrices.

Criteria and Matrix Relationship
The enabled criteria determine which axes are available for matrix configuration:
Enabled Criteria Available Matrix Axes
───────────────── ────────────────────────
Performance ─────▶ X-Axis or Y-Axis option
Potential ─────▶ X-Axis or Y-Axis option
Risk of Loss ─────▶ X-Axis or Y-Axis option
Impact of Loss ─────▶ X-Axis or Y-Axis option
Note: At minimum, enable the two criteria you plan to use as matrix axes.
Edit Restrictions
| Campaign Status | Can Modify Criteria? |
|---|---|
| Draft | ✓ Full editing |
| Active | ✗ Locked |
| Completed | ✗ Locked |
| Archived | ✗ Locked |
Why locked after launch?
- Ensures data consistency across all reviews
- Prevents confusion during active assessments
- Maintains calibration matrix validity
Best Practices
Do's ✓
- Enable relevant criteria: Only enable what you'll actually use
- Use clear labels: Make custom field names self-explanatory
- Provide descriptions: Help reviewers understand what to evaluate
- Consider matrix needs: Enable criteria needed for your matrix axes
- Think multilingual: Add translations for global teams
Don'ts ✗
- Don't over-complicate: Too many fields causes reviewer fatigue
- Don't duplicate: Avoid criteria that overlap significantly
- Don't use jargon: Keep terminology accessible
- Don't forget calibration: Consider how data will be used in calibration
